Church History

January 1981 The First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven elected a Mission Committee to seek out an area to begin a new work. The Deerpoint Lake area was determined to be the site where a church was needed.

April 1981 The Deerpoint Lake Baptist Mission held its first service in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Fields. The Mission met there for twenty-one months. The first service had fifteen people in attendance.

February 1982 The Deerpoint Lake Baptist Mission, First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven, and other supporting churches in Northwest Coast Baptist Association participated in the ground breaking service for the new church.

December 1982 the church building was completed and the first services were held in the new facility.

January 1983 The Deerpoint Mission began Sunday School utilizing the mobile home furnished by Northside Baptist Church.

March 1983 a dedication service was held for the new church facility.

August 1983 Deerpoint Lake Mission was constituted as First Baptist Church of Deerpoint Lake with eighty-four members.

1983 construction was underway for a new building to accommodate the additional Sunday School classes.

November 1 1987 the new educational building was dedicated. This building included three nursery rooms, church offices, kitchen, fellowship hall, and bathrooms.

February 1991 three temporary Sunday School classrooms were set up in the fellowship hall.

January 1992 a new addition with six Sunday School classrooms was completed.

March 2002 the Media Library Center was dedicated.

Presently, FBC of Deerpoint Lake is continually working to use the building to meet the congregation's needs.
